Comox Valley Cougars is the Comox Valley's track & field club based in Courtenay, BC, Canada. We serve athletes from developmental through elite by providing coaching, facility & equipment, training environment, and competition opportunities year-round.
Many of our club members have reached the national & international competition level. Many have obtained first-rate educational scholarships at Canadian & US universities & colleges as a result of the training that Cougars provides.

A photographer at the Canadian Junior Championships in Moncton NB caught this amazing shot of Comox Valley Cougar, Cody Parker, just as he released the javelin - he put all he had into this throw! Cody finished 3rd in his event. Other club members attending this meet were Haleigh Lloyd who finished 4th in the 400m Hurdles, and Veronica Luedke who finished 17th in both the 100 and 200m sprints. Congratulations to them all for their fine performances at this national level!

These members of the Cougars Track and Field Club had a strong showing at the BC T&F Championships Jamboree July 16, 17, and 18th in Abbotsford where the best track and field athletes in the province from age 14 to 50 compete.

BC Summer Games

Six Comox Cougar athletes qualified to represent Zone 6 at the 2010 Summer Games held in Langley July 23rd - 25th. The athletic portion of the games is only open to youth who will be 14 or 15 by the end of the year of the games. Congratulations to these dedicated competitors who each came home with medals, contributing to Zone 6 earning the most medals in the province – again! Adam Commandeur - GOLD 1500m Steeplechase and GOLD 800m; Liam Parker - SILVER 4x100m relay; Scott Commandeur - SILVER 1500m Steeplechase; Delaney Carr - BRONZE 4x400m relay; Emalee Vandermale - GOLD Javelin Throw; Mackenzie Mcleod - BRONZE 4x400m relay.
The final meet of the season is The Legion Canadian Youth Championships in Ottawa August 4 to 10. Athletes aged 14 to 17 compete as provincial team members who are funded, or as a club representative who is responsible for their own funding. These expenses could exceed two thousand dollars for this one event.

Results for all the 2010 meets are posted on our site as they become available... you can access them from our Results page button above and click the link for the meet, it's pretty exciting for the kids to see their names in the official lists!
Congratulations to all the Cougar athletes who represented their schools at the Vancouver Island Championships held at UVIC May 19 & 20. Athletes in the Junior and Senior categories who placed in the top spots move on to the BC Provincial School Championships to be held June 4 & 5 at Swanguard Stadium in Burnaby.
Female Senior Athletes:
Haleigh Lloyd defended her double crown winning both the 100m Hurdle and 400m Hurdle races! She also placed 5th in the Long Jump, a new event for Haleigh.
Veronica Luedke placed 1st in the 100m dash and 1st in the 200m dash - setting a new meet record for the 200! She also ran anchor in the 4x400 relay and brought her team in 1st, a very exciting race.
Kirsten Stewart placed 2nd in the Javeling throw and 5th in the Discus.
Jenny Arnold placed 3rd in the Shot Put and 3rd in the Javelin.
Ryley Carr placed 3rd in Hammer, 6th in Discus and 8th in Shot Put.
Sadie Horner placed 5th in the 400m Hurdles and 8th in the Javelin.
Male Senior Athletes:
Nick Blackburn placed 1st in the 110m Hurdles and 1st in the 400m Hurdles, defending his 400H crown for the third year!
Cody Parker placed 1st in the Javelin throw for another year!
Eric Tranfield placed 4th in the Hammer throw against this older age group.
Junior Male Athletes:
Eric Tranfield earned 1st place in the Shot Put and 4th in the discus.
Bantam Female Athletes:
Delaney Carr placed 2nd in the 200m dash and 5th in the 100m.
Alexa Hornstein placed 7th in the Triple Jump and 8th in the Long Jump.
Bantam Male Athletes:
Bryan Johnson placed 3rd in the 100m Hurdles, 5th in the 300m Hurdles and 11th in the 800m Run.
Casey Matsuda placed 3rd in the Long Jump.
