Track & Field depends on the generosity of our community volunteers. Our club is currently looking for volunteers to take on the following positions.
If you are interested in volunteering with the club, or would like more information please contact Jessica, our club registrar, via email [email protected].
Volunteer coordinator - This person would work with the meet director and registration chair to confirm the volunteer positions needed for each of the VIAA island series meets and create an online sign-up. This person would also be on site for these meets to check volunteers in and direct them on where to go for their specific volunteer job at that meet.
Training for this position is available and it can be shared between 2 or more people if needed. For example, if someone is available for the home meets, but may not be available for the away meets, or if people wants to share the responsibility at the home meets, or split up the away meets.
Results - This person would work with the competition secretary and finish line crew to enter results at the meet. You get great seats for the track events and yes you can sneak away to catch a field event here and there as well.
Training for this position would happen at the Solstice meet in June where you can shadow the current volunteer to see how easy it is.
Competition secretary - This person would work with the meet director and entry chair to create the meet in the meet management software. We are currently using Hytek as our meet management software.
Most of the work for the competition secretary is done in the days between when registration closes and the meet. This person would need to be on site for our two home meets to setup the computers and ensure everything is ready to go.
Once things are setup you do need to remain on site for the day to help the results volunteers and photo finish as well in case of issues, but just as with results you are able to sneak away to watch a field event here and there.
Training for this position is also available, but does require someone with strong organization skills and attention to detail to ensure all entries from the registration software (Trackie) have been entered into the meet management software (Hytek) correctly. If this part is done correctly the meet usually runs very smoothly with little to no delays.
Media relations - This person would manage our club's website and social media accounts as well as work with local and regional media outlets to promote our club and events.
