Mission

The mission of our club is to help all interested kids & adults develop an understanding of the skills and techniques of track & field so as to enable them to enjoy a lifetime involvement with the sport.
However, we are also motivated to train and work with athletes who display exceptional talents to reach and extend their competitive goals. Above all, we wish to promote the notion of friendly competition.

The club has assisted hundreds of athletes over the years in achieving provincial, national, & international competition levels. Many athletes have obtained educational scholarships at Canadian and US universities & colleges as a result of the training the Cougars provide.

Kathleen Smits  :  Sprints & Hurdles Coach, JD Coordinator
Kathleen is a former Cougars athlete turned Cougars parent. Her own achievements include being a stand-out at the provincial & national level in the hurdles & javelin. Kathleen's training in education & athletics is invaluable in guiding our practice sessions, and managing our young athletes at our local Island competitions.

Lindsey Kanary (York)  :  Jumps Coach
Lindsey's history in the sport centres around the spectacular Pole Vault event. She has been instrumental in the strong success of Cougars athletes in both the horizontal & vertical jumps.

Antonie Scholtz  :  Jumps & Multi-Events Coach

Chantal Morfitt  :  Assistant JD Circle Throws Coach
Chantal is one of our senior athletes who can't help but pay-it-forward. A bronze medallist in the hammer at the 2018 BC Summer Games, and BC Champion that same year, she always draws a keen crowd of young throwers to our hammer/discus cage for excellent training sessions.
