Is there a pro-rated fee if I register after the season starts?
No. All membership fees are due at the time of registration and are non-refundable. There is no pro-rated fee for registrations competed after the season has started

No. Registrations will not be accepted after the registration deadline, however you can email the registrar to be put on a waitlist for the next season. You will be contacted via email when registration for the next season opens.

What types of memberships are available?
Junior Development (JD) Competitive memberships are available to athletes ages 9-13. JD memberships are broken into three (3) age categories. U10 (age 9), U12 (ages 10 and 11), U14 (ages 12 and 13). All ages are determined as of December 31st of the current competition year
Athlete Development Competitive memberships are available to athletes 14+. Athlete development memberships are broken down into several age categories.
U16 (ages 14 and 15), U18 (ages 16 and 17), U20 (ages 18 and19), Senior (age 20+) and Masters (age 35+). All ages are determined as of December 31st of the current competition year
Training-only memberships are available to athletes 9+. All ages are determined as of December 31st of the current competition year.

What is the difference between competitive and training-only memberships?
Competitive memberships include a full competitive membership with BC Athletes and provide athletes the option to compete in local, provincial and national level meets.
Training-only memberships include a training membership with BC Athletics and enable an athlete to train with a club without the option to compete at track & field meets.

Can I upgrade from training-only to competitive?
Yes! There will be an option for athletes registered as training-only to upgrade to a competitive membership. Deadlines to upgrade will be posted on our website under the membership tab

Can I try one practice before joining the club?
Yes! While registration is open you can come down to the track during a general/JD practice to meet the coaches and try it out. Check out our practices tab for more information on when the general/JD practices run.

What if I can't make a practice?
No problem! We don't take attendance. You can attend practices as you are able to fit into your schedule.

No. All membership fees are due at the time of registration and non-refundable. There are no pro-rated fees for cancelled or missed practices. The Comox Valley Cougars track & field club will inform members of cancelled practices as soon as possible. Check the website and our Facebook page for cancellation notices.

Do I have to attend all track & field meets?
We encourage participation in all Island Series track & field meets, however you can attend the meets that fit into your schedule. Athletes in the U16+ age categories may have opportunities to compete in off-Island meets. Speak with your coach about the benefit of attending those meets.

Is there a pro-rated fee for Island Series track & field meets I do not attend?
No. All membership fees are due at the time of registration and non-refundable. The Island Series meet fees are included in the competitive membership, with the exception of the Victoria Dogwood meet. There is no refund or pro-rated fee if you choose to not attend one or more of the Island Series meets.

Are track and field meet fees which athletes pay refundable?
No. If you are attending a track & field meet which is not included in your membership type, the meet fees will be due at the time you register for the meet and are non-refundable. Check the trackie.com website for the specific meet for more information on the fees associated with that meet.

How do the "U" designations work for Track & Field?
All age groups from Junior Development (JD) to Athlete Development use the U designation for the age categories.
JD athletes compete in single age categories and Athlete Development athletes compete in combined age categories.
All ages are determined as of December 31st of the year of competition.
For example, if you are currently 9 turning 10 on December 31st, you will be in the U12 (age 10) category. If you are currently 13, turning 14 by December 31st, you would be the U16 category.
